Whether sweet, fruity or classic, waffles are a timeless favourite that can be enjoyed in countless ways. Today, we’re sharing two of our favourite recipes that have been tried and tested in our kitchen using the Krampouz waffle maker and rated as 'excellent'. These waffles are sure to delight your customers and add a touch of Belgian charm to your menu.
Original Belgian Waffle Recipe
To make authentic Belgian waffles, you’ll need:
125 g butter, 75 g sugar, 1 packet of vanilla sugar, a pinch of salt, 3 eggs, 250 g of flour, a quarter of a packet of baking powder, 250 ml of milk and 125 ml of sparkling water.
Separate the eggs and beat the egg whites until stiff. Cream the butter, sugar, vanilla sugar and salt together. Add the egg yolks and whisk until the sugar has dissolved. Sift the flour and baking powder together, then gradually add them to the mixture along with the milk. Stir in the sparkling water, then gently fold in the beaten egg whites. Bake in a Belgian waffle maker until golden brown.
Brussels waffles – light and airy!
To make Brussels waffles, you will need:
500 g flour, 200 g butter, 30 g yeast, 6 eggs, 750 ml milk and 100 g sugar.
Place the flour in a bowl and make a well in the centre. Pour in the lukewarm milk, add the egg yolks and mix in the soft butter. Dissolve the yeast in a little lukewarm milk with sugar, then add it to the mixture. Beat the egg whites until stiff and carefully fold them in. Leave the dough to rise for about 45 minutes, then bake in a Krampouz waffle maker and serve warm.
